Day Eighteen

Sometimes it is the simple things in life that bring us the most joy. Since I don't have anywhere outside to hang my humming bird wind catcher, it had to be put up in the kitchen for now. The rich purple color of the metal really catches the light as it spins. The hummingbird in the center is a reminder of the magnificence of even the smallest things in nature. Every time this catches my eye, it is a reminder to look around me for all the things in my life I have to be grateful for.

Day Seventeen

This is one of my favorite pieces of jewelry. I love the smoothness and shimmer of pearls combined with the sleek darkness of the hematite. The best part about this strand is that it is just one long length, and the hematite is magnetized. I love being able to adjust the length of this as a necklace or wrap it to become a bracelet. Pearls have long been a symbol of feminine wisdom, and further symbolize purity and innocence. As such, wearing them can help with self acceptance and getting in touch with the honest simplicity of life. This strand of pearls reminds me that what may start out as an irritation in our lives can be developed and grow into something beautiful given patience and time.

Day Sixteen

It is time for another kitten picture! I caught Snowshoe curled up for a nap in my bench today. Isn't she just adorable?! This bench was made for me by my great-grandfather when I was just eighteen months old. It has been through a lot, and been well loved, as you can see. It is currently in a state of needing repair again, and so I keep it upside down so that it doesn't get used by accident. I've been thinking that maybe I should make a template of the pieces, and make a new bench. Then I can retire this one to a permanent state of restful bliss under a stuffed animal or potted plant. Meanwhile catching something so precious in something so precious just begged for me to get the camera!

Day Fifteen

It was the night light that finally inspired me to grab my camera today. This is one of my favorite night lights in our house. I love to find unusual and creatively designed night lights for our house. With children who are afraid of what might be in the dark, we find these colorful lights to add an element of fun to drive away the fears. This night light is in our kitchen making it easy to get that midnight drink in the dark.

Day Fourteen

There is something about the way light plays through water that has always fascinated me. Even at night it can create spectacular if subdued displays of wonder. This evening's rain storm provided an excellent example of this. The lights from the neighbor's yard shining through the rain on the window was the perfect setting to end today with.

Day Thirteen

Nothing brings happiness and warmth to our house like a gorgeous basket of oranges! We love to make fresh orange juice every morning for most of the year. Living in Arizona we can actually by our oranges by the case from the local farmer for an unbelievably low price during growing season.. I love living here for that reason. We love our oranges and orange juice!
